Report: UK official says West should keep sanctions against Russia
MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Western sanctions introduced against Russia due to the Ukrainian conflict should remain in force, U.K. Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said after a meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna, Reuters reported Friday.
He also said new sanctions against Russia were possible if the country fails to comply with the Minsk agreements.
Relations between Russia and the West have deteriorated to their worse since the Cold War due to a military conflict in Ukraine. The West introduced sanctions against some Russian individuals and firms and further against the energy and banking sectors. In response, Russia limited food imports from some countries, including the U.S., the E.U., Canada, Australia, and Norway.
